FTP File Upload Basics

With your DSL Internet account you get a Personal Website, access to an FTP server and 10 MB of disk space. After you create your HTML pages, you can upload your files to your Personal Website using FTP software. Many of these are freeware or are available for a modest price. The following information can be applied to any FTP program of your choice.

Important Considerations

(1) All your web files must be uploaded into the public_html directory.

(2) The main or home page file must be named index.html.

(3) If you asked for a port number, enter 21 but this is usually the default value.
